Project: Nonprofit Organization Launch

Situation

A newly formed 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in the Washington DC Metropolitan areas was ready to launch and introduce their new organization to the local community. Prior to the pandemic and shutdown mandates, they were planning a May 2020 in-person event at one of their local community centers. As the pandemic continued on, the decision was made in May 2020 to pivot and take their launch digital. Their new nonprofit organization would be introduced in August 2020.

Insight

This nonprofit organization uses the arts to improve and enhance the educational landscape in marginalized communities. They understand the importance of bringing together individuals and organizations of shared values to improve the outcomes for all and hope to raise awareness and bridge economic gaps in their local communities. This launch event would highlight this mission, bringing together artists from across the nation on the virtual stage for a night of positivity, creativity, and heightened imagination.

Solution

Serving as the marketing communications and event consultant to the Managing Director and Executive Director, the plan for an hour long program was put together that showcased the art of both visual and performance artists. Press releases went out announcing both the call for artists and the actual event. Targeted outreach was conducted to ensure arts organizations in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas were aware of the event.

Results

Their event was featured in a California-based publication, over 300 people viewed the live streamed YouTube showcase, their social media following increased, and they both raised money and got people to sign up to become members of their coalition. The launch was more successful than what the organization imagined and they already have requests for partnerships to do another similar event early in 2021.
